Reyes' big triple keys Mets' rout of Cardinals
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Jose Reyes' bases-clearing triple keyed a six-run third that included pitcher Mike Pelfrey's first-ever RBI and the New York Mets routed the St. Louis Cardinals 11-1 on Thursday night.
MABA All-Stars claim first tourney championship
FRANKCLAY — The post-season play for each age group of the MABA Leagues is all tournaments, and the first one was held in its entirety Wednesday evening. MABA’s nine-year old All Stars faced  Union in a two-team district tournament held at Frankclay. The tournament was two-out of three games with the third game to be played today if needed. It wasn’t.
Glaus hits winning homer in ninth for Cards
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Troy Glaus’ second homer of the game with two outs in the ninth won it for St. Louis, an inning after pinch-hitter Chris Duncan’s two-run shot tied it in the Cardinals’ 8-7 victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday night.
Normal routine at SFCR gives wins for Worley and Thompson
FARMINGTON — In the wake of last Saturday nights “marathon” program, racing got back to a normal routine. All racing was completed by 11 p.m. The Sprint Division action found a familiar face in the Winner Circle. Tommy Worley, Jr, of Farmington cashed in on a mid race problem by Joey Montgomery of Fredericktown.

FARMINGTON — Outstanding pitching from Devin Hampton and an early scoring strike helped the Potosi Pumas polish off a National Division title in MABA Junior Babe Ruth action on Wednesday night with a 5-0 victory over the Farmington Dolphins.
Wainwright hopes to resume throwing next week
ST. LOUIS (AP) — The violent motion that produces Adam Wainwright’s curveball is responsible for an injury more common to rock climbers clinging to cliffs than pitchers. The St. Louis Cardinals’ ace has been sidelined nearly a month waiting for a ruptured tendon in the middle finger of his right hand to heal, and is unlikely to return until after the All-Star break.
