HARRISBURG, IL - The Mineral Area College Lady Cardinals took a back seat to the Vincennes University Community College Lady Trailblazers Friday night in the Southeastern Illinois CC Classic by a score of 65-49.
The Lady Cardinals had played what seemed to be an easy game the night before against the Lindenwood J.V.'s, but it proved to leave its mark on the winner as Mineral Area came back with more than one wounded player from the battle. With a next day trip to the Classic, the Lady Cardinals had no time to heal which was easily visible in Friday's game.
The Lady Cardinals trailed most of the game and were behind by 35-22 at the half to the 13th-ranked Trailblazers. Only one player made it into double figures in scoring. Alycea Wallace scored 14 points to lead the team. Anna Brisso was next with eight points, Erica Anderson and Dionn Jackson had seven points each. Robin Sane scored six points, Danielle McBride scored four and Sara Dieteker added three more.
Things will not be any easier this afternoon when Mineral Area will play 4th-ranked SE Illinois at 5 p.m.
