OTTUMWA, IA - After suffering a disappointing loss to Indian Hills Friday evening during the Indian Hills Classic, the Mineral Area Cardinals bounced back in style as they defeated Northern Iowa Area Community College. Not only did MAC pull off the win, they won in double-overtime by the score of 106-99.

The Cardinals were up by 37-36 at half-time. Although Mineral Area had several 10-point lead in the second half, Northern Iowa eventually took the lead. With 0.1 seconds left in regulation, MAC's Kenny Burke came through and sank two free throws to send the game into the first overtime. The Cardinals controlled the second overtime period for the win.

Gary Somerville and Ryan Byrne each made 15 points for the Cardinals. Aaron Jackson and Tremaine Wilkerson chipped in 14 while Burke and Curtis Muse made 12. Dantwan Chillers sank 11 and Rob Kennedy drained 10. Justin Redman-Trotter scored 26 points for Northern Iowa to lead all scorers.

The Cardinals will take on Indian Hills in a rematch during the Rotary Shootout on Saturday at 8 p.m.
