Knights earn dominant road win at Perryville

FARMINGTON - The Farmington Knights improved to 4-1 on the season with an impressive 65-33 road win over the Perryville Pirates on Tuesday. The Knights limited their turnovers while slowing down the Pirates with tough defense.

"We really got after it and played hard," stated Farmington coach Tim Banger. "I was also impressed with how we were able to score against their zone. We made shots on the inside and outside."

The Knights led 31-18 at halftime. David King lead all scorers with 18 points. Schuyler Semar scored 12 for Farmington, while Nick Brewer added 10 and Matt Usherwood chipped in eight.

Farmington will face a tougher road test at Borgia on Saturday.

Crystal City 62, Ste. Genevieve 44

STE. GENEVIEVE - The Ste. Genevieve Dragons struggled in their first home game of the season against Crystal City Tuesday night. Ste. Genevieve struggled with their shooting throughout the evening which was the cause for their downfall. Crystal City led after the first quarter 16-8 and held on to the lead throughout the night for a 62-44 win.

Kyle Faulkner scored 15 points for the Dragons while Mitch Meyer contributed 11.

The Dragons (3-2) will visit their cross-town rival Valle on Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Ellington 60, West County 30

ELLINGTON - The West County Lady Bulldogs remain winless on the early season following a 60-30 loss in Ellington on Tuesday.

The Lady Whippets scored the first 15 points of the contest and led 36-20 at halftime. West County failed to score in the third period, due mostly to a strong pressure defense from Ellington.

"We struggled to get the ball up the floor at times tonight," said West County coach Chris Brewer. "We have to get the ball to our inside scorers more often."

Emily Rasnick led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points, including four three-pointers. Diana Simily added eight points and pulled down five rebounds to share the team lead with Rasnick. Brittany Ritenhower poured in a game-high 25 points for Ellington.

West County (0-3) will look for its first win at home against Valley on Monday.

Windsor 56, Ste. Genevieve 32

IMPERIAL - The Ste. Genevieve Hunters basketball team met trouble on the road when they visited Windsor Tuesday evening. Although Ste. Genevieve was down by only six points at the end of the first quarter, Windsor's lead grew throughout the rest of the contest. Windsor defended their home court by the score of 56-32.
