Knightettes lose tough one at Oakville

ST. LOUIS - The Farmington Knightettes left behind a possible road win at the free-throw line on Saturday afternoon as the Oakville Lady Tigers rallied in the fourth quarter for a 47-45 triumph.

The low-scoring game saw Farmington hold a 21-15 advantage at halftime maintain a modest lead into the fourth quarter. Oakville outscored the Knightettes 19-13 in the final stanza to earn the victory.

Farmington had many chances to cash in at the charity stripe, but only converted on 14 of 28 tosses.

Natalie Hooss scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while Megan Bess charted 11 points and nine boards to lead the Knightettes. Cassie Tiefenauer added seven points, and Randie Wooldridge made five steals.

Farmington will make the lengthy journey to Sikeston tonight for a tussle with the Lady Bulldogs.

The Farmington boys team also suffered a narrow defeat on Saturday, falling 58-57 at St. Francis Borgia. The Knights will host Sikeston on Tuesday.
