MEMPHIS - The Mineral Area College Lady Cardinals continued to battle through injuries at the Lady Saluqi Holiday Classic in Memphis on Tuesday. With the roster reduced to six players, the MAC women battled the hosts from SW Tennessee down to the wire, but eventually fell 76-74 on a last-second field goal.
The back-and-forth contest saw the Lady Saluqis grab a slim 34-33 halftime lead, but the Lady Cardinals were able to hang tough on the road.
MAC (7-5) held a three-point lead in the final minute of play, but a triple from SW Tennessee evened the score at 74-74. The Lady Cardinals committed an untimely turnover with 12 seconds left, allowing the home team to win on the final possession of the game.
Anna Brisso led a quartet of double-digit scorers for the Lady Cardinals with 20 points. Alycea Wallace was next highest with 19 points while Robin Sane scored 18. Erica Anderson added 10 points.
The Lady Cardinals will return to action on Monday with a road game against SW Illinois in Belleville.
