Local sports events will be announced in the Daily Journal on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday for two weeks preceding the event. Please send an announcement of your upcoming event to the sports department no sooner than three weeks before the event or its registration deadline by either phone 431-2010, FAX 431-7640, or drop it off in person at the Daily Journal office in Park Hills.

Baseball Showcase - Jan. 30

The 5th Annual Ste. Genevieve Baseball Showcase for high school players who are juniors or seniors will take place on January 30 at the Ste. Genevieve Community Center. The times are fielders 11:30-2 p.m., catchers 1:30-4:30 p.m., and pitchers 2-4 p.m. Several scouts will be in attendance. The cost is $40 for one session or $50 for both. MABA Baseball - Feb. 2

A meeting for coaches and managers for this summer's Bantam Cal Ripken, Cal Ripken MABA Leagues will be held at 7 p.m. on February 2, at the Park Hills Senior Center. Call Dan Lashley at 431-4038 for further information.

MABA Baseball - Feb. 3

The Mineral Area Baseball Association will hold its first coaches and managers meeting for all teams in the 13, 13-15, 16, and 16-19 year old leagues to play in this summer's baseball season at 7 p.m. on February 3. Each team should have a representative at the meeting
