MAC Volleyball has a new coaching staff. Mineral Area College is proud to announce that the new head coach is Tim Copeland. Tim is a resident of Desoto and has been the assistant at Jefferson College, a national JUCO volleyball power, for six years. He also served for four years as the head coach at Missouri Baptist University.
His staff will include Jennifer Parks, who is teaching and coaching at Mascoutah High School (IL), and Ashley Smith who is a senior at Southeast Missouri State University. Jennifer is the fianc/e of Zack Mills, former MAC basketball player and assistant and current head coach of the Central Rebels. Ashley played at Jefferson and Southeast Missouri, and she will be student teaching in the area starting in the fall.

The women's basketball team hosts rival Jefferson College at the Bob on Wednesday evening in a 6:00 p.m. start. Then on Satruday, Three Rivers comes to town for men's and women's doubleheader at 5:00 and 7:00. The men's team travels to Flo Valley on Wednesday for an important MCCAC conference matchup before the conference and region clash with Three Rivers on Saturday.

Homecoming 2005 is Saturday the 26th with the baseball season kicking off at 1:00 versus Rend Lake. The men's and women's basketball teams have a tough doubleheader versus State Fair that evening at 5:00 and 7:00.
MAC at Florissant Valley
The Cardinals will travel to St. Louis CC - Florissant Valley for a key MCCAC contest on Wednesday, February 16, at 7:00pm. Mineral Area is currently tied for the Conference lead, and plays it's final road game of the season in St. Louis. This game will serve as a Homecoming for several Cardinals: Aaron Jackson (Hazelwood Central), Curtis Muse (Vashon), DeAlan Hicks (Vashon), and Kenny Burke (Cardinal Ritter) all played their high school basketball in St. Louis. Assistant Coach Chad Kish was also a member of the Florissant Valley staff the previous two seasons.
Mineral Area will be looking to end their current 2 game skid. The Cards are led by Ryan Byrne at 12.4 PPG and Kenny Burke at 12.3 PPG. MAC is 17-9 overall, and 2-1 in MCCAC games. Tremaine Wilkerson is leading MAC in rebounding at 5.2 RPG, Jonathan Jackson has scored in double figures 3 of the last 4 games, and Aaron Jackson is averaging nearly 13 PPG over the last 5games.
Florissant Valley is 14-11 on the season and has won 6 of their last 8 games. The Norsemen are deep and athletic, and feature former Cardinal James Stingley in the post.
