Please send an announcement of your upcoming event to the sports department no sooner than three weeks before the event or its registration deadline by either phone 431-2010, FAX 431-7640, or drop it off in person at the Daily Journal office in Park Hills.

Sectional Tickets - Feb. 28
Tickets for the Class 5 Sectional basketball games to be played at the Farmington Civic Center will go on sale on Monday at Farmington High School for $5 each. There are a 1000 tickets available for purchase. Each team also has 600 tickets for their fans. If all tickets are pre-sold by Wednesday, there will be no tickets sold at the door. The girls game will start at 6:30 p.m. between Poplar Bluff (21-6) and Lafayette (22-5), and at 8:15 the boys game will be Poplar Bluff (23-4) vs. Lafayette (24-4).
Tickets for the Class 4 Sectional games will be played at Mineral Area College with the times and prices the same as Class 5. The girls game will be between Dexter (23-4) and Potosi (21-6), and the boys game will be between Notre Dame (12-16) and Festus (21-6). Tickets may be purchased at the college starting on Monday. Longhorns Sign-ups - Mar. 3
The Farmington Longhorns, a Cal Ripken League team (10-12 yr. olds) will hold sign-ups on March 3 from 7-7:30 p.m. at the Civic Center. For more information contact Lisa Sweeney at 218-7036.
Softball Meeting - Mar. 7
The Park Hills Parks department will hold a managers meeting for adult softball leagues at 7:30 p.m. on March 7 at the Sports Complex (horseshoe bldg.). Leagues offered are Men's D/E, Men's A/B/C, and Church leagues. All leagues are limited to eight teams each. Call the Parks Department 431-0478 for additional information.
Team Sign-ups - Mar 13
The Twin City Association Select Baseball League is looking for 10-11 year old and 12-13 year old teams to play in their league this spring and summer. Teams may sign up from now until March 13, and games start in mid-April and go to the end of June with a 15-20 games per team. Each registered team will receive 4 and a half hours of free practice at the All-Star Batting Cages with extra hours at reduced rates. Farmington Softball - Mar. 17
The annual organizational meeting for this summer's Farmington's adult slo-pitch softball leagues will be held on March 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Long Memorial Hall, 110 W. Columbia St. Fees, rules, regulations, schedules and other information will be covered, and it is a imperative that a representative for each team be present. Registration will begin at this meeting.
