PERRYVILLE - Tuesday was the first day of the Class 2, District 3 boys basketball tournament held at the Perry Park Center. The No. 1 seed St. Vincent Indians took on the No. 8 seed Valle Warriors. Valle struggled to get any decent shooting chances throughout the game allowing St. Vincent to walk away with a 62-31 victory.

The Indians didn't waste any time as they scored the first eight points of the game. Danny Rellergert and Alex Armbruster both knocked down a three as part of the eight-point drive. Valle's Adam Hermann broke up the run with a jump shot, but St. Vincent scored seven more points before the end of the first quarter. The Indians led 15-2 after the first quarter.

St. Vincent didn't stop there as they immediately scored seven more points at the start of the second quarter. Although Valle had some improvement in their shooting, the Indians went on a dominating 12-0 run to close out the first half with a 40-12 lead.

The Indians refused to stop as they went on an 11-2 scoring spree at the start of the third quarter. Both teams matched nine points before the end of the third quarter as St. Vincent led 60-23.

With the clock continuously running down, both teams gave a majority of their bench players substantial playing time. The Warriors outscored the Indians 8-2 in the fourth quarter.

Valle finishes their season with a record of 4-22. The Warriors will lose Keith Basler as their only senior due to graduation.
