FARMINGTON - The Farmington Knightettes put on an offensive show Tuesday with a 9-0 win over the Sullivan Lady Eagles. Despite the tremendous offense Coach Rusty Sancegraw credits the teams' defense with helping to make the win lopsided.

"Our midfielders really controlled the game. They helped keep the ball on Sullivan's end of the field nearly the whole first half," said Sancegraw. The Knightettes led by a score of 5-0 at the half.

Sullivan managed to only get one shot on goal which goalie, but Knightette goalie Julie Schnurbusch made the stop. The Knightettes made 26 shots on goal. Meghan Halbrook started the scoring spree with the first goal at the three minute mark. Ann Dziewa made it 2-0 at eight minutes, and Becky Weaver added another 14 minutes into the game. Katie Mell got into the scoring action at 27 minute mark with an assist by Molly Currington, and then did it again seven minutes later this time assisted by Dziewa.

Halbrook started off the second half scoring as well, with a goal at the 50 minute mark on an assist by Mell. Mell then made her third goal of the game at 56:00. Kristen Hayes got into the act two minutes later with her first goal, and Dziewa got into the act with a second goal at the 60 minute mark.

The Knightettes are now 2-1-1 and will play next on Thursday against Cape Central in the Cape Notre Dame Tournament which ends on Saturday .
