MAAA teams busy in Tuesday golf action

TERRE DU LAC - The North County Raiders golf squad hosted a tri-meet which involved the Ste. Genevieve Dragons and De Soto on Tuesday. The Raiders took the meet with a low score of 163 while Ste. Genevieve finished with a 184 and De Soto finished two strokes behind Ste. Genevieve.

North County Jake Black was the medalist as he finished with a 39. North County's next three golfers were not far behind. Dustin Gray shot a 40, Robert House completed the course with a 41, and Josh Harrison rounded out the Raiders' team score with a 43.

Justin Kertz had the lowest score for the Dragons with a 41. Aaron Derousse finished the contest with a 45 while Kyle Stolzer shot a 48. D.J. Gegg recorded a score of 50 for Ste. Genevieve.

North County will be put to the test when they travel to Arcadia Valley on Thursday. Ste. Genevieve will host Jackson today.

Farmington 158, Festus 166, Central 171

FARMINGTON - The Central Rebels also hosted a tri-meet which involved Festus and the Farmington Knights on Tuesday at Eagle Lake Golf Course. Farmington came out on top by the score of 158, while Festus finished second with a 166 and Central came out on the short end by the score of 171.

Farmington's Barrett Belew and Matt Rhodes both shared medalist honors with a 37. Jim Gillespie finished with a 40 while Brian Gallagher recorded a score of 44.

Central's Keith Huff had the lowest score for his team with a 42. Grayson Clark, Jimmy Guinn, and Will McDowell all had a score of 43.

The Knights will host Valle on Thursday. The Rebels will travel to Terre Du Lac to play West County the same day.

Fredericktown 172, West County 217

FREDERICKTOWN - The Fredericktown Blackcats golf squad hosted the West County Bulldogs for a conference match-up. Fredericktown's home-course advantage easily gave them a 172-217 victory over West County.

Kevin Foster was the medalist as he finished with a 38 for the Blackcats. Clay Street and Chase Dunham had scores of 43 and 44 respectively. Adam Cooper shot a 47.

Sam Luebbers and Brandon Dane both finished with a 50 for the Bulldogs. Jordan Miller finished the day with a 57 while Brandon Mahler completed the course with a score of 60.

Fredericktown (2-3 and 1-2 MAAA) will participate in the Mid-East tournament in Terre Du Lac today. West County (0-5 and 0-4 MAAA) will host Central on Thursday.

Arcadia Valley 168, Potosi 182

POTOSI - The Arcadia Valley Tigers golf team has not lost a golf match yet, but they had to beat the Potosi Trojans on Potosi's home course if they wanted to stay that way on Tuesday. Arcadia Valley passed the test as the Tigers took down the Trojans 168-182.

Arcadia Valley's Chris Spitzmiller was the medalist as he finished with a 35. Spitzmiller recorded five birdies in which he chipped in two of them. Jordan McLaurin finished the course with a 41 while Abe Warren had a score of 45. Blaine Dunivan rounded out the team's score with a 47.

Potosi's Brett DeClue had the lowest team score with a 41 while Sean Martin came in with a 43. Brittany Chazelle and Ryan Portell both shot a 49 for the Trojans.

The Tigers (5-0 and 4-0 MAAA) will host North County on Thursday for a conference match-up. Potosi (4-3 and 2-2 MAAA) will host Farmington for a conference challenge on Tuesday.
