FARMINGTON - On Farmington's schedule it was to be a dual meet between the Knightettes and Fox Lady Warriors, but also showing up to play at the St. Francois Country Club on Wednesday was the Seckman Lady Jaguars.
"I didn't even know they were coming," said Farmington coach Craig Gibbs about the scheduling mix-up.
The three teams then played a tri-dual match and Farmington came ahead on both ends. The Knightettes scored a 221, just one stroke better than the Lady Jaguars at 222, and Fox finished with a 252.
The Knightettes, restricted to four players because that's all they have, had to wait and see how things turned out as the other teams were able to take the best four scores from six players.
Macy Williams and Ashley Rhodes each shot 50 for their opening round of the season. Chrissy Lype shot a 60, and Becka Shaner came in at 61. It was Shaner's first varsity golf match. Alicia Burgert of Seckman was medalist with a 46.
"For the first match, to get a couple of wins, the girls were really excited," said Gibbs.
Farmington will travel to Kirkwood for their next match on September 8, and their next and only home match left will be with Mehlville which is now scheduled on September 27.
