POTOSI - The Potosi Trojans, 4-0, were evenly matched all the way to the end of their football game by the 3-1 Herculaneum Blackcats. Only a 30 yard field goal by the Blackcats would put a stop to the game in the double overtime period with a final score of 24-21.

Herculaneum could have won it in regulation with a field goal in the waning moments, but Brandon Casey got a hand on the booted ball and the score remained tied 21-21. Potosi took a crack at a field goal in the first overtime for the win, but missed wide.

The two teams played even ball for the four quarters with a half-time score of 14-14. Potosi scored in the third quarter, but Herculaneum tied it up in the fourth frame.

Kevin Schneiders scored the first touchdown of the game, catching a pass from Potosi quarterback Earl Haug for a 24-yard score. Travis Edwards was good on his first of three extra points for the Trojans.

Brandon Casey ran the ball in from six yards out for Potosi's second touchdown and then made a 49 yard run for their last touchdown.

Potosi will travel this Saturday to Perryville to play in the Pirates' Homecoming game
