Lady Cardinals play fair at State Fair

SEDALIA - The Mineral Area Lady Cardinals played in the State Fair College volleyball Tournament on Friday and Saturday and finished up so-so with two wins and two losses.

MAC split their two matches on Friday, and the split again on Saturday. On Friday, the Lady Cardinals defeated Allen County, Kansas in three games 30-20, 30-28 and 30-18, but then lost to Neosho in like manner, 27-30, 28-30 and 18-30.

The match was not so close on Saturday with Indian Hills. MAC lost in three by scores of 19-30, 16-30, and 20-30. The Lady Cardinals defeated the host team in four, 30-24, 18-30, 30-28 and 30-23.

Monika Jaroszewicz and Lora Dickey led the team over the weekend in kills with 36 and 28 respectively, with Tiara Boyer collecting 26 and Cassidy Wisdom 25. Dickey led in blocks with six solos and 12 doubles and Jaroszewicz had four solos and six doubles. Jennifer Gabrian set up 108 kills.

On defense, Jessica Murdick made 100 digs as the libero player. Wisdom had 51 digs, and Gabrian brought up 31 of the opponent's attacks. Jaroszewicz served seven aces over the four matches.

Mineral Area, 22-10, will host Lakeland on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. for their next match.
