The Farmington Knights hung close for three quarters with undefeated Borgia, but Borgia's offense was too quick and their defense too stubborn against the Knights' efforts. Borgia soon doubled and then tripled their lead before a minor run against the subs by the Knights made it a 12-point game at the end, 60-48.

Farmington took off on a tear, taking the opening tip with Caleb Owens scoring quickly before Borgia's defense could get set. For the first four minutes of play, the Knights seemed to be headed for a runaway. Quick, sharp passes allowed the Knights to score at will with Dwayne Glaspy scoring twice in the run. The Knights' defense forced Borgia turnovers, and Farmington jumped out to an 8-3 lead.

Borgia wasn't ready to lose their first game just yet, as they began to display the quickness that would escort them to their seventh win of the season. Their full-court pressure created three quick steals, that they took to the hoop for a one-point lead at 9-8.

Farmington called time, but Borgia would not stop, nor slow down as they scored the next five points. The Knights would rally to close to within two points as the quarter ended.

The Borgia players began to rush their offense at the start of the second quarter, despite their coach yelling ‘slow it down' from the bench. Borgia turned the ball over and over and over, until it resulted in Farmington finally tying things up with a basket by Usherwood off of an offensive rebound.

Borgia jumped into the lead as sharp-shooting David Holdmeier hit a three, but minutes later Usherwood gave the Knights their first lead, 27-26, of the quarter with a conventional three, the Knights' first free-throw made out of seven tries. Borgia scored three baskets to close out the half.

Farmington unable to score effectively from outside began a patient offense in the second half of play, trying to get the ball inside for the lay-up. Each time they did, however, the ball would get swiped by the quick hands of the Borgia players. Borgia began to dominate the game on both ends. It was all Farmington could do to just keep up.

The Knights closed to within three point late in the third quarter, but Borgia scored off of an offensive rebound, something they had done all game. Borgia outrebounded the Knights 24-12. Shooting percentages were high for both teams as most shots were taken from within five feet of the basket. Borgia shot 56 percent from the floor and Farmington shot 51.

Farmington, 1-4, will play next at Sikeston on Tuesday.
