On December 17, 2007, The Honorable Madison County Commission met pursuant to adjournment on with the following officers present; Presiding Commissioner John Rauls, First District Commissioner Dennis Bradford, and Second District Commissioner Terry Hovis. County Clerk, Don Firebaugh, was present to record the proceedings.
Presiding Commissioner John Rauls called the meeting to order at 9:00 A.M. The following business was transacted.
A motion was made by Commissioner Hovis to approve the agenda and was seconded by Commissioner Bradford. Motion carried by vote: Presiding Commissioner Rauls (yes), Commissioner Bradford (yes), and Commissioner Hovis (yes).
Minutes from the last meeting on December 10, 2007 was read by County Clerk, Don Firebaugh. A motion to accept the minutes as read was made by Commissioner Hovis and seconded by Commissioner Bradford. Motion carried by vote: Presiding Commissioner Rauls (yes), Commissioner Bradford (yes), and Commissioner Hovis (yes).
Mrs. Peggy Goldsberry along with several Madison Medical Center Auxiliary volunteers appeared requesting from the Commission information and facts concerning the Ambulance District issue that will appear on the April 8, 2008 ballot in Madison County and a method they should use to help with passing along correct information to disseminate to Madison County voters correct information and the importance of maintaining an ambulance service in the county. There have been some meetings at Fredericktown and Marquand this month. The hospital volunteers said some of the information they have heard is incorrect and hope to find a better method of publicizing the need for an ambulance service in Madison County.
E-911 Director, Bill Starkey reported that all 911 equipment is operational. He talked to AT & T and they told him some changes will occur soon in the wireless information capability received at our command center.
Ernie Robinson, Acting Supervisor for Madison County Road and Bridge department, reported all work accomplished by his department the past week in Madison County. He said that we had two road graders and one dump truck inoperable at the present time.
Commissioner Bradford made a motion to publish a bid request for a dump truck for the Road and Bridge Department. Commissioner Hovis seconded the motion. The motion passed by vote: Commissioner Rauls (yes), Commissioner Bradford (yes), and Commissioner Hovis (yes).
Belinda Miller along with a friend appeared before the Commission requesting help with a sewage problem they had on private property. They were told that the Commission must abide by state regulations concerning health issues.
Commissioner Hovis said he had requests from residents living on Road 241 needing grader work. He also attended an East Missouri Action Agency meeting on Monday, December 10, 2007.
Commissioner Bradford attended the University of Missouri Extension Meeting Monday, December 10, 2007 and had calls from residents living on Roads 512 and 515.
Presiding Commissioner Rauls said he attended an Ambulance District Committee meeting last week as well as Commissioner Bradford and Hovis. He visited with Clyde Clifton at MCCDD on Wednesday December 12, 2007 to discuss their need for expanded transportation for the Sheltered Workshop. While there, he visited the Shelter Workshop and looked at their new operation in the Tinnin Building. He also received a letter from a resident that lives on Road 209 about a dead elm tree that could be a hazard.
Commissioner Bradford made a motion to approve the bills for Madison County the past week. Commissioner Hovis seconded the motion. Motion carried by vote: Presiding Commissioner Rauls (yes), Commissioner Bradford (yes), and Commissioner Hovis (yes).
There was no further business was transacted on December 17, 2007.
