Cindi Thurman, OTR/L and Certified Lymphedema Therapist for Mineral Area Regional Medical Center recently attended the fifth annual conference of The American Society of Lymphology in Kansas City.  The conference consisted of several physicians specializing in Lymphology from Asia, Europe, Australia, and the United States presenting their latest research findings and newest treatments for venous and lymphatic system dysfunctions that result in edema (swelling).  

Thurman has become an edema specialist and pioneered making available Complete Decongestive Therapy (the gold standard of treating swelling) to the community and surrounding counties since 2001. She is currently the only therapist in the St. Francois County area certified by the Lymphology Association of North America, and one of only 30 in the state of Missouri.
