"Plunger Man"
Steve Head aka Plunger Man (3000 dollars) aka Cinderfella (2025 dollars). Total of $5025 raised for 2 plunges.

Hey folks, I did “Go Jump in the lake again!. My costume this year was “Plunger Man”     (themed after the “Golden Plunger Award” given to participants). I did dive right on in and as I was walking out, fell backwards to make sure I got a double dose of water.

The day was sunny, low 40’s, snow on the ground, some ice on the lake and the water was 37 degrees. I lead the parade of the folks in costume. I jumped in the water during the 3rd heat, a total of 13 heats with about 130 plungers). After my plunge I was interviewed by KFVS-12 and made the 6 and ten p.m. newscasts. My entire plunge was broadcast on tv.

At the Plunger Awards ceremony later, I received the 3rd place “Golden Plunger Award” for best costume and I was second overall for fundraising. The competition was tough this year. My competition were teams of plungers and teams fundraising. That is all great because the more people doing this, the more dollars we are getting for our outstanding athletes. I still got me a “Golden Plunger Award” for my trophy case.

Cinderfella (me) who plunged in 2007 and got the fundraiser goal of $2,025 has since retired. I hear he is living in Fredericktown and cleans houses and chimneys. He is a legend in the plunging circles. I have provided his story below.

In 2007, Cinderfella did “Go  jump in the lake!” The lake was covered in 2 inches of ice and the temperature was a balmy 32 degrees including a 10-15 mile an hour wind. Cinderfella, the legend as he was, jumped in twice. Yes twice. Once in the 4th heat and once in the 9th heat. One poor lady missed her heat and was going to go solo, but Cinderfella stepped in and helped her out. With the help of all his sponsors and friends, he ended up being a top fundraiser. To seal off his legend status, he won the Golden Plunger award for Best Costume and of course, his diving, plunging method. The rest is history.
