Time for 'Wiggle and Giggle' Fishing Derby
It’s nearly May and that can mean only one thing — it’s almost time for Wiggle and Giggle.
Farmington Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with the Farmington Kiwanis, Taylor Funeral Service, Country Mart, Ryan’s, Pepsi-Cola, Missouri Department of Conservation, Little Caesar’s Pasta House Company, McDonald’s of Farmington, Steak ‘n Shake, CiCi’s Pizza, C-Barn Live Bait, Harris Heating and Cooling, and Blake Graphic Arts is pleased to host the Wiggle and Giggle Fishing Derby for Kids.
The event will be held free of charge on May 3 at the Farmington Industrial Park on Hager Lake alongside U.S. 67.
All kids 14 and under, accompanied by an adult with a valid Missouri fishing license, are invited to participate.
Sponsors have provided some great prizes, which will be awarded at the conclusion of the Derby to the kid in each division who catches the most fish, the largest fish (by weight), the longest fish, and the most unusual catch of the day.
All kids who enter will pick up some great fishing stuff. Also, one boy and one girl will leave the derby as proud owners of brand new bikes, compliments of Taylor Funeral Services.
Derby registration begins promptly at 7:30 a.m. on May 3 with the first cast horn sounded at 8 a.m. Fishing competition will come to a close at 11 a.m., and immediately following Missouri Department of Conservation Agent Grant Gelly and MDC Biologist Mike Reid will judge the derby.
For more information call the Farmington Parks and Recreation Department at 756-2251.
