FARMINGTON — The Farmington Knightettes soccer team gave their seniors a final home game to remember with a 4-2 win over the Windsor Owls on Tuesday, the Knightettes’ Senior Night.
The Knightettes posted a 2-0 lead at the half and it would be the winning margin as the two teams matched goals for the final 40 minutes of play. Senior Emily Mell supplied the first goal on an unassisted drive.
Heather Lewis had some help in scoring the Knightettes’ second goal. Senior Kelsey Davault made a corner kick which was headed by Jessica Allison to Lewis, and Lewis was able to find the net off of the header.
Senior Danielle West scored the Knightette’s first goal of the second half with an assist by Mell, and Mell assisted again on the teams’ last goal by Lewis. Senior Alexis Gordon made four saves over the 80 minute game.
“We controlled possession really well, tonight,” said Farmington coach Rusty Sancegraw in defining his team’s win.
Farmington, 11-10, will play at home against Cape-Notre Dame for their last regular season contest.
Hillsboro 2 (SO 3-2), Fredericktown 2
FREDERICKTOWN — The Fredericktown Lady Cats gave it all they had for their Senior Night in matching the Hillsboro Lady Hawks, 2-2, for 100 minutes of soccer, but the Hawks would win the shoot-out 3-2.
The two teams fought to a scoreless tie in the first half, but in the second half, Fredericktown was an answering machine.
Hillsboro’s Kim Andreat scored just four-and-a-half minutes into the second half, but five minutes later, Haley Stevens took a pass from Johnna Tinnin to tie the score again.
Katie Politte gave the Lady Hawks the advantage for the second time, but it was canceled out by a second goal off the foot of Stevens with 10 minutes to go.
Neither team could capitalize on the final 10 minutes of regulation, nor the two 10 minute periods of the first overtime.
Molly Ward and Stevens both scored in the shoot-out. Behind 3-2, it looked like the Lady Cats would tie the game again when Tinnin’s shot had the goalie beat, but the ball went just wide of the goal.
Rachel Settle was in goal for the Lady Cats making 13 total saves with eight in regulation. Fredericktown made 17 shots on goal.
The Lady Cats will travel to Sikeston on Thursday for their last game of the regular season.
