Rain or shine, fans showed their support for local bands Saturday at Bob-A-Rino’s Pizza in Farmington.
Eight bands donated their time and talent to raise more than $500 for St. Francois County Relay for Life.
Event organizer Kato Supagrover organized and booked the bands for the Daily Journal Relay for Life team.
“After the rain made it impossible to play outside, the equipment was moved inside,” he explains.
By Appointment Only (BAO) was first to perform.
Isaiah, Matthew and Wyatt Johnson wait patiently in their BAO T-shirts.
“This is their first show. They made their shirts last night to support their dad, Junior, or Don Ward,” says Amanda Ward, wife of lead guitar and back up vocals for By Appointment Only.
Other members include Albert Cooley on drums, Justin Grahn on bass, Russell Patterson on rhythm guitar and Dusty Aubuchon with lead vocals.

Jason Poling played guitar and sang vocals for both his band, Dead Pawns and filled in for Rehab Rats when their singer became ill.
“We’ve played together a lot, so it wasn’t hard,” Poling said.
Members of the Pilot Knob-based Dead Pawns are Bill Richardson, vocals; Henry Steele IV, drums, and Poling on guitar/vocals. Visit them at www.myspace.com/deadpawns
Rehab Rats are a two-piece punk rock band who prefer basements to venues. Learn more about the Rehab Rats at www.myspace.com/therehabrats

Veteran performers to the Relay for Life benefit shows was Submergency.
“We’ve been together about two years,” bass guitarist Mark Worley of Submergency said as he listened to another band.
“I wish the kids would stay for the whole show,” Worley said. “They might like what they hear.”
Fans often come only for the one band they want to hear and leave soon after.
Other members of Submergency include Matt Schrum, synth/keys; Dustin Jones, guitar/vocals; Brodie Files, guitar/effects; and Tony Barber, drums/vocals. Visit www.myspace.com/submergency to listen to the band.
The band, Into Audio, includes Robb Martinez, guitar/vocals; Bryan Potter, bass/synth and Quentin Hassell, drums.
Martinez and Hassell were members of the former band Bi-Level. The new “harder, edgy sound of Bi-Level” can be heard at www.myspace.com/intoaudio
Ashes of Adrienne, consisting of Jeff Chapman, Todd Duckett, Tyler Smith, Jake Cantrell and Eric Robinson performed. The band recently recorded a record demo in Nashville.
Bob-A-Rino’s Pizza owner, Joe Boyer has always been a fan of the local band scene.
“We usually have an event every weekend,” Boyer said.
Upcoming events include a Battle for Bob-A-Rino’s on May 24 and a benefit for BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) on June 7.
“Our street will be blocked off to show the bikes,” Boyer said. “We will have our beer license by then.”
Boyer hopes to have more than just local bands at his restaurant. In the future, he will have stand-up comedians and UFC fight nights.
Bob-A-Rino’s Pizza is located at 11 N. Jefferson St., Farmington. They serve authentic New York style pizza as well as homemade pastas, soups, sandwiches and salads.
Organizers are thankful Holly Rains and Erica Fitzgerald filled a time slot at the last minute. The two perform acoustically.
A special thank you to the following individuals for helping in various ways: Kato Supagrover, Dave Starr, Johnny Barton, Scott ‘Fro’ Collinsworth, Kala Hayes, Frank at Phoenix Gallery Tattoo and Piercings, Joe and Amanda at Bob-A-Rino’s Pizza.
