Second annual Miss Country Days Queen Pageant set
The second annual Miss Country Days Queen Pageant is set to take place and “Journey Through Time” on Wednesday, June 4 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Centene Center. The doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets are $3 per person, with children ages five and under free.
The Country Days Queen Pageant began last year with the hopes of giving Juniors and Seniors from St. Francois County high schools the opportunity for personal growth, grace and confidence — along with the opportunity to earn money for college and some fabulous prizes. Last year, nine young ladies vied for the title and at the end of the “beach party”, Jessica Standfuss was crowned “Miss Country Days Queen”.
This year nine beautiful, intelligent and outstanding young ladies will compete for the title of Miss Country Days 2008. Contestants include: Meredith Huffman-Miss Charles Thomas Salon; Tiffany Stricklin-Miss Signs Etc.; Amber Kennedy-Miss Merritt Homes; Alexandria Pannett-Miss Fidgett’s Unlimited; Ayla Chadbourne-Miss Krekeler Jewelers; Heather Lewis-MIss Plummer’s How-To; Mickel Mouser-Miss Professional Property Management; Haley Motley-Miss Farmington Sports and Rehab; and Olivia Armstrong-MIss Domino’s Pizza.
A panel of judges from across the state and one from Arkansas will conduct personal interviews with each of the contestants on Wednesday afternoon to begin pageant activities. This portion of the pageant is closed to the public. Beginning at 7 p.m., the event will start with a journey through time and Country Days. The nine young ladies will be judged on stage presence, modeling and impromptu questioning. The evening will conclude with the crowning of Miss Country Days 2008, plus the announcement of the first runner-up, Miss Congeniality and the diamond award winner. Scholarships have been provided by Mineral Area College and a signature, one-of-a-kind diamond necklace has been provided by Krekeler Jewelers. Jennie Annie’s — A Chic Boutique has also provided jewelry for the evening.
Diamonds will sparkle, flowers will bloom and tears of happiness will flow. It’s sure to be an exciting evening for the entire family.
