Local sports events will be announced in the Daily Journal on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday for two weeks preceding the event. Please send an announcement of your upcoming event to the sports department no sooner than three weeks before the event or its registration deadline by either phone 431-2010, FAX 431-7640, or drop it off in person at the Daily Journal office in Park Hills.
Volleyball Clinic — July 8-10
The Central High School volleyball coaching staff will be conducting a clinic for girls entering grades 1-6 at the high school’s White Gym on July 8-10 from 1-2:30 p.m. each day. The cost of h camp is $20 per player. For more information, contact Coach Tracie Casey at 431-0221.
Basketball Try-outs — July 10
The Potosi Hoops AAU basketball team will be holding try-outs for any area sixth-grade girls on July 10 at 6 p.m. at the First Assembly of God gymnasium on 803 N. Missouri St. in Potosi. For more information contact Trish Camillo at438-6042 or 438-6050.
MAFL Football Camp — July 12
The Mineral Area Football League will be holding a Little Knights football camp on July 12 at Farmington High School’s football field for all players planning to play in this Fall’s leagues. The times are 1st-2nd grade 8-9:20 a.m., 3rd-4th grades 9:30-10:50 a.m., and 5th-6th grades 1-2:30 p.m. Instructions will be by the Farmington football coaches and campers should were shorts, t-shirt and tennis shoes or football cleats. There will be a mandatory parent meeting held with the MAFL Board during each child’s camp time for all parents.

A team is forming in Bonne Terre for players, eight years and under, wishing to play baseball next year will be holding try-outs on July 13 at 3 p.m. on the field behind the old Bonne Terre Elementary school. For more information contact Greg Turner at (573) 680-4624.
MAC Volleyball Team Camps — July 18
The Mineral Area College volleyball program will be holding team camps for high school J.V. and varsity teams on July 18 starting at 9 a.m. The cost is $100 per team. Persons or teams who wish to register or want more information should contact MAC coach Tim Copeland at 573-518-2231 or assistant coach Ashley Smith at aesmith@mineralarea.edu or 314-651-0919.
Fall Leagues — Now
New local fall Baseball and Girls fast pitch league now forming. The boys will play USSSA rules and the girls will play NSA. Any coach wishing to bring their team please contact the number below. The games will be through the week and the age groups are for the Boys 10U and 12U and the girls will be 12U and 14U. Depending on how many teams we receive will determine what nights we will play on. The league will start in mid August and we are attempting to get it organized by the first of August. Please contact Roger White at 573-631-5920.
