Thursday, August 07, 2008

ST. LOUIS (AP) Ryan Ludwick homered for the fifth straight game Wednesday night, tying the St. Louis Cardinals' franchise record.

Ludwick, who has six homers during the streak, hit his 29th of the season off the Dodgers' Derek Lowe in the fourth inning. He connected four pitches after Albert Pujols hit a grand slam.

Pujols was the last Cardinals player to homer in five straight games, doing it from Aug. 17-22, 2007. Others to do it were Jim Edmonds, Rip Collins and Jim Bottomley.
