Their huge yard was full of colors-be it from flowers of all kinds, flowering shrubs like roses and Rose of Sharon, a colorful vegetable garden and some attractive landscaping. Mr. Pogue was found tending the yard when the committee stopped by.
Second place was awarded to Vicki McKinnis of 409 Virginia St. for her backyard oasis for the grandchildren. Vicki’s yard was full of fun things for kids like the huge sand box area, which blended in so well with her attractive plants, shrubs and grasses. Even the large shade tree had a smile on it! Vicki’s front yard is also very attractive.
Third place was awarded to Jill Wagganer of 306 Lee St. Its attractive landscaping and big shade trees with swing looked like a peaceful place to enjoy the outdoors.
Honorable mention goes out to John Wyatt of 202 Park Place. (John’s huge display of Iris were gone so we missed a lot of their color).
Also receiving an honorable mention are the Whitson’s at 1 St. Francois St., and the Kegley’s of 107 Southwood St.
Also catching the attention of the committee were Fredericktown businesses: The Vision Center on South Main St. and the new Dialysis Center.
“Fredericktown is well blessed with people who enjoy working in their yards for themselves and for others to enjoy.” said committee members. “We enjoy viewing and meeting our residents.”
Next month’s judging will be in Madison County the week of August 25th.
