Relax to good music at 12 west
Thursday, August 21, 2008
Dan Hurt
D’ Electrified is becoming regular entertainment at 12 West in Farmington.

The band is a two-man group consisting of Dan Hurt and Shannon Cox of Canyon, Whiskey Creek and the Flat River Band.

They feature country, bluegrass, classic rock, southern rock, and they also perform original music that they have written.

“We are laid back, and there to have fun, relax and play good music,” Dan said. “No light show, no blaring main speakers, no hype, just two musician/singers/songwriters sharing music with whoever wants to listen on a Friday night right in downtown Farmington.”

They will play the first Friday every month through December. All shows start at 8 p.m. There is never a cover charge but tips are welcome.  12 West is a bar and grill — an upscale eatery — located across from the courthouse and next to Music Makers.

Dan, who lives in Park Hills, has played with Wildcards, C.O.D., and R&D Blues. He’s been playing music since he was 8.

Here’s what Dan had to say about himself on his Myspace page: “I primarily play bass guitar, but I love to jam with my acoustic guitar as well. Professionally, I find myself playing bass more than anything, which is fine with me, because I love playing bass.

“I am happy laying back, and just keeping the groove while someone else gets the spotlight, or I am just as comfortable being frontman, and doing a lot of vocal work. I love to sing, but I don't have to.

“I love all genre of music. My musical hero is Merle Haggard, he is why I am a musician, singer and songwriter. Another hero is my good friend, Charlie Daniels. I have been honored to have known him almost 20 years. He is just a wonderful friend ...”
