Villas now available at Chaumette
Friday, September 05, 2008
The villas are part of the planned development, The Villages at Chaumette, with each villa being privately owned. Owners have the option of renting their villas through Chaumette during unoccupied times. Chaumette manages all aspects of overnight rentals, splitting the revenues between each owner and winery. Nine of 20 six villas are available to rent, with six more villas slated for completion by year’s end, and 10 villas remain available for sale.
Winery owners Hank and Jackie Johnson’s vision to create a destination - that also includes a resort spa – was simply in response to guest requests over the years for a place to stay overnight and enjoy rural Ste. Genevieve wine country longer.
“We wanted to take the idea of our winery one step further – to offer guests a place to stay or live permanently and to enjoy with us our peaceful and beautiful surroundings, in more than just an afternoon visit,” he said.
Villas average 1,275 square feet and are mainly two bedrooms, two bathroom units with a few one and three bedroom units. Villas are customized to suit each owner’s design needs, and all feature nine foot ceilings, fireplaces, fully equipped kitchens with granite countertops, upscale appliances, Egyptian cotton linens, custom made bedding & drapery, oversized marble and glass showers, bath robes, walk-in closets, flat screen televisions in the master bedroom and living areas, and AT&T U-verse with 350 channels and wi-fi access, using state-of-the-art fiber-optic technology.
Each villa’s exterior follows the vertical log construction in the architectural style of the early French settlers in Ste. Genevieve and include wide porches with panoramic views, street lamps, and public furniture reflecting the period.
Villa owners and rental guests have access to the outdoor heated pool, private cabanas, the winery’s Belle Haven Spa, and soon to be finished wine bar poolside, fitness center and outdoor hot tub. A tennis court and alfresco dining poolside are also in development. Activities include wine tasting in the Tasting Room; shopping at Chaumette’s fine Gift Shop and Art Gallery; enjoyment of live entertainment in warmer months; dining for lunch and dinner at Chaumette’s Grapevine Grill Restaurant; shopping at the retailer Ivy & Twigs, a local retailer on property; vineyard walks, access to hiking trails in the adjacent Mark Twain National Forest’s John J. Audubon Trail, open for hiking and bird-watching, mountain biking and horseback riding; fishing in the three small lakes on property, and Sunday morning services in the “all faith” Mission Church, St. Vincent’s-in-the-Vineyard, located on property.
Chaumette Winery offers Romantic Getaway and Girl’s Weekend Getaway destination packages.
One night and two night packages are available, and bridal packages are also available to the more than 50 weddings per year held at Chaumette. Corporate retreat packages are offered as well, and villas are available to rent for corporate retreats on a daily and overnight basis.
Established in 1990 by Hank and Jackie Johnson, Chaumette Vineyards and Winery is located in Ste. Genevieve County. For more information, visit http://www.chaumette.com
