Three men were apprehended by local officers after a car chase, foot chase, and extensive manhunt. The new radios greatly assisted the officers in their search. The trio from the St. Louis area were wanted for burglary in St. Francois County.

Potosi dropped their high school football program due to student lack of interest.

September 14, 1983

Marquand mayor Raymond Whitener signed a proclamation to make the first week in October National Higher Education Week.

Silvester Mills retired after 35 years with Brown Shoe Co.

Elmo Nations was sworn in as the new alderman in Ward II, after Johnny Inman moved from the ward and resigned.

The Blackcats defeated St. Clair 39-0. Players of the week were Devin Amelunke, Jamie Griffon, and Ron Pyles.

Cydney Cox has purchased the Madison County Title Company.

September 16, 1998

The Blackcats lost to St. Vincents 22-0.

The Ladycat volleyball team topped West County.

Blackcat players of the week were Paul Graham, Derek Smith, Rusty Leonard, and Shawn Neel.
