Potosi's Swearingen makes it two in a row

ST. LOUIS — For the second year in a row, Jacob Swearingen bested all runners in the Forest Park Cross Country Festival. Swearingen was the fastest runner out of 197, and helped his team place seventh out of 25 schools.

St. Louis University High won the meet with a total of 87 points, Kickapoo was second at 159 and Jefferson City placed third at 160. Potosi finished with 242 points, which was best among Class 3 schools. Farmington was 16th overall with 457 points.

Swearingen ran the 5.2 mile course in 15:44.2. Nick Niggemann came in fifth with a time of 16:03.4. Freshman Justin Doss finished 48th with a time of 17:36, which was the second best time for any freshmen in the meet. Jacob Mathis came in 55th at 17:43 and Devin Hampton was 162nd.

Sarah White placed 27th with a time of 20:42 in the girls division, and Nikole Johnson was 90th at 23:02.

Potosi’s next meet is this Saturday at the Festus Invitational.
