Gibson throws no-hitter for 11-0 Lady Raiders

BONNE TERRE — The North County Lady Raiders managed only four hits against the Festus Lady Tigers on Monday, but it was four more than the Lady Tigers had. Katie Gibson struck out 10 batters in pitching a 5-0 no-hitter for the Lady Raiders.

Brittani O’Connell was 2-4 at the plate and drove in one run. Jamie Bullock, 1-3, drove in two runs, and Kelsey Hall drove in the other two, going 1-2.

North County, 11-0, will be back in conference play today when they travel to Fredericktown.

Poplar Bluff 5, Farmington 4

FARMINGTON
— The Farmington Knightettes never gave up in their softball loss to the Poplar Bluff Lady Mules, but they came up 60’ short from making a full comeback in the bottom of the sixth inning to finally fall by a score of 5-4.

The Knightettes fell behind early 5-0, giving up three unearned runs in the process. Six Knightettes went 1-3 at the plate for Farmington’s only hits in the game. Allie Trask, Erin Littrell, Chelsea Thomure, Natalie Hoehn, Nikki Broccard and Rachel Porter all had one single each. Littrell gave up only seven hits to the Lady Mules.

Farmington, 4-7, will host Central this afternoon in conference play.

FALL BASEBALL

West County 13, Arcadia Valley 2

ARCADIA
—The West County Bulldogs won again in their Fall baseball schedule. This time defeating the Arcadia Valley Tigers in a make-up game, 13-2.

Zach Turner was the winning pitcher. He struck out three and gave up three hits, working a complete, five-inning shortened game.

Brandon Turner was 4-4 with three doubles and four RBI to lead the Bulldogs in hitting. Multiple hitters for the Bulldogs were Kyle Nettles, 2-4 with a double and a triple for his two hits, Cody Shannon 2-4, and Zach Turner 2-3. Justin Lashley was 1-2 with a double and Trevor Kean was 1-1.



TENNIS

Farmington 9, Potosi 0

POTOSI
— The Farmington Knightettes again poured out a 9-0 shut-out on a MAAA Conference foe, this time it was the Potosi Lady Trojans on Monday.

Courtney Jensen and Alicia Murray won No. 1 doubles 8-3, Megan Politte and Jenny May won No. 2 doubles 8-2, and Montana Patterson and Audrey Comfort were also 8-2 winner in No. 3 doubles.

Jensen was an 8-1 winner in No. 1 singles, and Murray won 8-3 at No. 2. Heather Lewis at No. 3 and Mackenzie Coleman at No. 5 shut-out their opponents 8-0, and Kaitlin Crocker at No. 5 and Katie Brady at No. 6 won by scores of 8-1.

Farmington, 6-0, will play again this afternoon at Fredericktown, and Potosi, 2-2, will host Arcadia Valley on Thursday.
