Volleyball Cats split two matches

The Lady Cats Volleyball team came out with guns firing in their home opener against the Lady Tigers of Clearwater last Tuesday night (September 8). 

It was a total team effort.  The Lady Cats took control winning in two sets 25-9 and 25-16.

Defensively the Lady Cats shut down Clearwater pushing them to try and tip around the blocks.  Back row Defensive players were on their toes ready for every attempt.  Stats for the Lady Cats against Clearwater Tigers were as follows: 

Allison McDowell 17 Assists and 10 Service points; Kylie Oertel 4 service points, 3 kills, 1 Solo Block and 2 Assisted Blocks; Lauren Henderson 10 service points (4 Aces), 11 Kills, 3 Solo Blocks, 1 Assisted Block, and 2 digs; and Chelsea Mills 15 service points (3 Aces), 4 kills, 1 Assist, and 4 digs. 

The Lady Cats played very strong together and dominated the game! The victory put them at 3-0 for the season.

The Lady Cats Volleyball team hosted the Yellow Jackets of Chester, Illinois Thursday evening, September 11, sustaining their first loss of the 2008 season. 

The first set was close with the Lady Yellow Jackets winning 25-23.  The Lady Cats stepped it up offensively and defensively in the second set coming out on top 25-16.  The Lady Cats missed some opportunities in the third set with serving and attacking errors, ending the set 19-25. 

Stats for the night:  Rikki Firebaugh 2 Kills, 3 Solos blocks, 3 assisted blocks; Melia Fall 5 service points and 4 assists; Allison McDowell 11 service points (2 aces), 1 kill, and 16 assists; Kylie Oertel 4 service points (1 ace),  3 kills, 5 solo blocks, 4 assisted blocks, and 6 digs; Lauren Henderson 5 service points (4 aces), 9 kills, 5 solo blocks, 1 assisted block, and 6 digs; Chelsea Mills 10 service points (1 ace), 5 kills, and 10 digs; Mallory Allgier 6 digs and Brittany Reutzel 3 digs. 

The Lady Cats finished week two of the season 3-1 and faced Arcadia Valley at home on Tuesday (September 16) They travel to Meadow Heights Thursday, September 18.
