The board that oversees activities of the Taum Sauk Fund in Reynolds and Iron Counties will hold a public meeting Monday to hear reports dealing with operations, finances, and grant-making activities.
The Taum Sauk Fund, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation that was established in February to direct and improve tourism and economic development in the areas of Missouri affected by the December 2005 breach of the Taum Sauk Reservoir.
The nine-member board of directors will meet at 6 p.m. in the Reynolds County Courthouse in Centerville. All are welcome to attend. In addition to reports, the board will hear a presentation on asset management and investment approaches for institutions. Topics for discussion and possible action at this meeting may include: Eligibility determination application for 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, quotes for directors and officers insurance, grant proposals received, and actions to solicit and retain legal counsel and accounting and auditing services.
A recent resignation left a vacant position on the board. The term runs until Dec. 31, 2010. Anyone interested in filling the position may apply until Oct. 4.
Those interested in serving on the board should send a letter or e-mail expressing their interest to Kevin Perry, Suite 319, 428 East Capitol Ave., Jefferson City, MO 65101 or to kevin@forrestergroup.com. All letters of interest should be postmarked by Oct. 4.
An application form and information about qualifications and disqualifications, as required by the organization’s bylaws, will be provided to all who inquire.
The board will gather information from those interested in serving and then vote to fill the vacancy later this year. Nominees must declare their candidacy in person at a board meeting to be announced later.
General information about the Taum Sauk Fund, including copies of the bylaws, the purpose of the Fund, and articles of incorporation, are available at http://www.taumsaukfund.org/.
Future regular meetings of the board are scheduled for Oct. 16, Nov. 20, Dec. 18, Jan. 15, and Feb. 19. Tentative agendas are available at http://www.taumsaukfund.org. For more information, contact the Taum Sauk Fund, Inc. at 573-636-7000 ext. 512 or visit http://www.taumsaukfund.org.
