DESLOGE — A call about a suspicious person looking inside of parked vehicles at the Desloge Wal-Mart Supercenter resulted in two people going to jail. Desloge Police Chief James Bullock said the incident took place at 5:28 p.m. on Oct. 3.
“Officer Dan Russell was called to Wal-Mart on a call of a suspicious subject looking inside of vehicles,” Bullock said. “He saw the man when he arrived on the scene. He had gotten into a vehicle and a female passenger was in the rear passenger seat.”
Bullock said Russell stopped the vehicle.
“When he ran the names of the driver and the passenger it came back that they both were on probation and parole,” the chief said. “The officer obtained permission to search the vehicle. He found precursors used to make methamphetamine and arrested both of the suspects.”
Bullock said a 43-year-old Farmington man and a 26-year-old Park Hills woman were arrested. They are facing probable charges of possessing chemicals with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine.
In an unrelated incident on Monday, a 39-year-old Desloge woman was arrested for being in possession of methamphetamine. Bullock said Cpl. Dustin Cash was patrolling when he saw the woman driving erratically near S. Desloge Drive and E. Cedar Street.
“He pulled the vehicle over and asked the driver if there was anything illegal inside the car,” Bullock said. “She consented to a search of the vehicle and she even went as far as asking the officer if he wanted to search her purse. The officer found a piece of foil with a white powdery substance in it. Cpl. Cash then gave the woman a Miranda warning and asked her what the substance was. She told him it was methamphetamine.”
Bullock said the woman was arrested for having methamphetamine and for failing to drive on the right side of the road.

After charges are filed. It's hard telling what WRONGWAY JAY Nixon would say. The sunshine law applies to open meetings of public entities. Get over it. Is everything a government conspiracy to you? Go complain to Wrong way Jay.

Yes, the Sunshine law states the names can be made public - check the SFCSD website.
However, I believe the paper has stated that it's THEIR policy not to release names until charged. Probably to protect themselves. What if John Doe was arrested for stealing a car, then the charges are dropped and never filed because they realize it's the wrong man? I agree with their policy.

To Tired of poeple. You are wrong sir. Call the attorney general. They are open records as soon as the arrest is made. Did your editor tell you differently?

Apparently you didn't read pspratt1s' comment correctly. Apparently you do need to brush up on the Sunshine Law.

Hey know it all, names are public information AFTER OFFICIAL CHARGES ARE FILED. Good grief.

Nice to know that we have two people cruising around the Wal-Mart parking lot with those chemicals. But who are they? How does this article serve the public interest. Once again I defer to section 610:100 of the Missouri Sunshine Law that outlines arrest and incident reports, please read it.
