Madison County Commission meeting
September 29, 2008, the Madison County Commission met with the following officers present; Presiding Commissioner John Rauls, First District Commissioner Dennis Bradford, and Second District Commissioner Terry Hovis.  County Clerk Don Firebaugh was present to record the proceedings.

Sheldon Combs and Karen Yates, attended the meeting.

E-911 Director Steven Perkins reported to the Commission the operational status of equipment in the 911 department.  The department had a radio problem Saturday night and Dittronics Inc. was called to see if they could find the problem.

Road and Bridge department reported all work accomplished by the department the past week and the operational status of equipment.  Ernie Robinson said the department has spent $ 12,000.00 so far on the wind storm damage that came through Madison County this month.  He said the county has been given some shot rock from the Highway 67 project and will be hauled this week.  The Road and Bridge department is repairing Bloomfield Road this week.

Rauls attended the Area Commissioner's Meeting in Sikeston.

Bradford met with McCaul Engineering Co. on Road 516 and worked out the details with the contractor and local residents on the new bridge being built over Brewer's Creek.  He said that a preliminary bid hearing will be held at the Courthouse on October 6, 2008 beginning at 1:00 P.M.  The boom-axes are back in operation and being used to mow weeds and brush in Madison County.

Second District Commissioner Terry Hovis said he addressed calls from residents living on County Roads 241, 244, 254, and 320.  Boom-axes are also working in District 2.

The Commission discussed the health insurance bid for 2009 with Ms. Katy Lacy from MOPERM.  Madison County workers have been afforded health insurance through MOPERM for several years.  Another bidder, MOPEB failed to submit a bid after several months of discussion.  Deadline for bid submissions was Monday, September 29, 2008.

Bradford made a motion to stay with MOPERM and accept another two year contract (PPO 500 with Mercy being the provider).  Hovis seconded the motion.  Motion carried . 

Hovis made a motion to abate $ 44.95 for erroneous assessments in 2006. Bradford seconded the motion.  Motion carried.
