October 20, 1908

The official ballot includes the following parties, Democrat, Republican, Socialist, Prohibition, People’s Party, Independance, and Socialist Labor parties.

Republican congressman Richard Barthold from St. Louis will speak at the courthouse this week.

Poll taxes are due by November 15, 1908. You must pay or work on the roads. If suit is filed for nonpayment it will add $3.00.

October 23, 1958

James Royer was elected Madison County Farm Bureau President. Other officers elected were Paul Bollinger, Lola Inman, and Asa Holmes.

The Democrats will hold a rally at the courthouse featuring Missouri Attorney General John M. Dalton as speaker.

October 27, 1983

Laurie Elders was crowned homecoming queen.

Bill Whitener was elected Farm Bureau president. Other officers are Harvey Baker, Joan Whitener, and Homer Huffman.

Student council officers are Chuck Penuel, Laurie Elders, and Gerry Stephens.

The Blackcats won 6-3 over Central. Players of the week were Steve Lane, Brad Huffman and Richie Moser.

Sherry Link was voted 1st team all-conference in volleyball. Melissa Broussard and Laurie Elders received honorable mentions.

Senior class officers are Mary McWilliams, Shirley Pogue, and Deena Cortelloni.

October 28, 1998

Omer and Nina Bollinger celebrated their 70th anniversary.

The Cats defeated Dexter 20-12. Players of the week were Jeremy Penwell, Derek Smith, Chris Turner, and Jon Clauser.

FFA officers Ross Allen, Kyle Hibbits, Jeanie Rehkop, Ben Whitener, Brandi Lawrence, Tim Griffon, Sarah Darnell, Justin Walker, Courtney Gowen, and Travis McDowell attended a leadership conference.

The Pig celebrated it’s 50th anniversary.
