Missouri announces Emergency Preparedness Grants
Missouri Governor Matt Blunt announced 28 first repsonder agencies will receive new equipment through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP)

“We must never underestimate the critical role local government has in fighting terrorism and responding to disasters of all kinds,” Blunt said. “ I am pleased more than two dozen Missouri first responders agencies will receive this state-of-the-art equipment and technical assistance which will improve public safety and help save lives.”

According to Cherokee Pass Volunteer Fire Department Chief Bill Starkey, the department has received basic rescue tools which include six pieces: a cutter, three rams, a spreader and a pump. Starkey said the equipment grant was valued at  about $16,000 and the training for the equipment is still pending.
