Help the Hungry Bake Sale is this Saturday and final activities are under way for the event.

This is now an annual bake sale that helps bring in food and money in time for the holidays at the local food pantries, St. Vincent De Paul and the Ministerial Alliance. This year’s bake sale will have 10 different booths of baked goods, along with jams and jellies and an international food booth.

There are many different things for people to participate in along with the bake sale. There will be a cookie decorating for kids, a live and silent auction, as well as cooking demonstrations.

“This is something for everyone to get involved in. A veteran called and said that they are involved in three different organizations and are donating to the cause. This is based on the generosity of others,” said Chris Landrum, one of the main organizers of the event.

About 11 different churches are involved in one way or another. About 30 different auction items were donated, but they wont know for sure how much is going to be there until Friday evening or Saturday morning.

All of the donations — money and canned food items — will be divided equally and donated to both food pantries in Farmington to help out with the holiday season. People visiting the bake sale and bringing in canned goods items will receive $.50 off the purchase of baked goods.

Some items up for auction this year are Ci-Ci’s Pizza desserts, a Cake of the Month year-long gift, Flowing Chocolate, two $50 savings bonds from Belgrade State bank, a smoked turkey, an American flag, a family getaway to Lake of the Ozarks, and a Hallmark Holiday gift basket.

The bake sale starts Saturday at 9 a.m. and runs until 1 p.m. It will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic School gymnasium in Farmington.
