A Thanksgiving night snow left 8 inches of the white stuff on the ground.

County Prosecuting Attorney Ed Westhouse has resigned. Roy Cooper name has been submitted to the govenor as his replacement.

The statewide deer kill was 13, 369 including 5 albino deer.

December 1, 1983

The City Council voted to remove the downtown parking meters on a 6 month trial basis.

Middle school student council officers are Toni Francis, Kim Nash, Kerry McMahon, and Steve Sikes.

Sixth grade officers are Teri Bodenschatz, Karen Spain, and Dawn Williams.

Seventh grade officers are Jackie Rehkop, Vincent Bentinganan, and Chris Smith.

Eighth grade officers are Rhonda White, Scott Harris, and Keith Bales.

December 2, 1998

Susannah Picou Rahlmann, a graduate of Fredericktown High School received the American  FFA degree.

Elks students of the month are Luke McKinnis, September; Tim Pirtle, October; Kara Weyand, November; and Jeanne Rehkop, December.
