Yard of the Month
Yard of the Month of Ward I went to Harry and Wanda (r-c) Maze. From the Community Beautification Committee; Susan Pfoertner (L), Elaine Merica.
The Community Beautification Committee has once again started their annual “Yard of the Month” award presentations. For the month of June, Ward I was judged, and first place went to Harry and Wanda Maze of 218 Lee Street. Harry’s vegetable gardens and flowers around back caught our attention. He has a little of everything. Caught in the middle of weeding. Elaine talked him into parting with some of his cactus.

Second place was awarded to Jerry and Sheila Brewen of 304 South Main Street. The Brewen’s also have a little of everything and interesting items here and there. One outstanding plant was a huge cactus with deep purple blooms.

Third place was Mike and Mary Shryock of 201 Dalton Street. You can’t miss the outstanding color in the bed of larkspur and stella lilies.

Honorable mentions were: The Pogue’s at 710 Southwood and 201 West Main.

We appreciate the calls and suggestions we receive from the community. Just take a drive up and down the neighborhoods and enjoy looking at all the nice yards. You can get some pretty good ideas for your own yard.
