Rockets vs. Bombers for Bantam tourney title

FARMINGTON — Jace Bland pitched a four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts, and Dillon Manion went 2-for-2 with a solo home run to propel the Park Hills Rockets into the finals of the MACRBA Bantam League Tournament.

The Rockets produced three first-inning runs in a 4-0 semifinal win over the Leadwood Titans, and will face the Bonne Terre Bombers for the Gold Division championship on Friday night in Potosi.

Holden Mayberry was also 2-for-2 in the victory, while Conner Hagerty, Cody Manion, Evan Sidebottom and Bradey Clark added one hit each.

The Titans had singles from Garret Bowen, Bryce Pruett, Jared Jones and Cory Davis. Reid Pratt fanned five batters in the complete-game loss.

Bombers 14, Clippers 6

BONNE TERRE
— The Bonne Terre Bombers collected seven consecutive hits while erupting for 12 runs in the opening frame, and coasted to a 14-6 semifinal triumph Wednesday over the Arcadia Valley Clippers.

Dawson Harper finished 3-for-3 with a triple and double, and Lucas Spray netted three more hits for the Bombers. Cody Hubbard pitched four innings with four strikeouts for the relief win.

Nick Parker, Cody Boylan and Joe Hulsey each contributed two hits, and Joel Strauser doubled in the victory. Hubbard and Jason Mahurin also singled.

Tatum Jones gave the Clippers an early lead with a two-run triple. Other hits were earned by Takota Jones, Isaiah Gibbs, Chandler Swaringam and Logan Pannebecker.

Raiders 11, Explosion 10

DESLOGE
— The Desloge Raiders received a sudden jolt when 6-year-old Karter Kekec ripped a walk-off homer in the fifth inning, and defeated the Bonne Terre Explosion 11-10 in tournament action on Wednesday night.

Trae Robinson finished 3-for-3 with a double and five RBI, and Garrett Wencker added a three-run homer for the Raiders. Michael Falls struck out three batters in two innings for the win.

Kenny Mahurin and Chase Robinson each had a single with two runs scored in the victory. Eli Claywell and Will Claywell also chipped in with hits.

Jake Sullens drove in three runs and pitched five innings for the Explosion. Tucker Smith collected a pair of singles.

CAL RIPKEN LEAGUE

Knights 11, Jaguars 1

FARMINGTON
— Conner Forsythe and Dennis Pogue combined to pitch a two-hitter with eight strikeouts, and the Farmington Knights rolled past the Farmington Jaguars 11-1 in Cal Ripken League action on Wednesday.

Ian Semar scored three runs and drove in two others while finishing 3-for-3 at the plate, and Aaron Hargis added two singles with two runs scored to pace the Knights (13-3).

Tyler Scales and Ian Powers each singled for the Jaguars.

JUNIOR BABE RUTH

Cubs 9, Cats 6

FREDERICKTOWN
— Drew Rhodes extended his current hitting streak to eight games and Austin Johnson singled twice, as the Desloge Cubs held off the Fredericktown Cats, 9-6 in Junior Babe Ruth action.

Rhodes collected four strikeouts and recorded the final eight outs for the win in relief of Johnson. The Cubs (2-6) also picked up hits from Derek Mitchell, Joe Swofford, Kaleb Warden, Travis Ryals and Judd Weible.

Brady Brewen lined a triple among his two hits, and the Cats had two singles apiece from Jake Korokis and Jeremy Greminger. Keith Jackson added a single.
