Junior Babe - Rockies win two from Red Sox

LEADWOOD — The Leadwood Bulldogs scored four times in the fourth inning, and resisted a late comeback by the North County Red Sox on Monday to prevail 6-5 in the first game of a Junior Babe Ruth double-header.

Winning pitcher Josh Conway pitched five innings with three strikeouts, and also had a triple and single at the plate. Justin Lashley collected three hits for the Rockies, who built a sizable 6-0 advantage.

Zac Turner and Tyler Dane each singled twice, and Jake Coleman chipped in a double to the victory. Coleman worked the final two frames with three strikeouts to earn the save.

Clayton Golden paced the Red Sox offense with a triple and single, and Levi Moss singled twice.

Rockies 13, Red Sox 2

LEADWOOD
— The Rockies exploded for 10 runs in the opening frame, and dispatched the Red Sox 13-2 in the nightcap at Frankclay Field.

Justin Lashley enjoyed a double-digit lead before tossing his first pitch, and worked three innings for the win. Zac Turner ripped two doubles in a three-hit game to lead the Rockies (12-3).

Josh Conway had a triple and single, while Kyle Harrison and Lashley also notched two hits apiece in the triumph. Jesse Waters added a single after picking up another in game one.

Bradley Bess had two hits and Tanner Trautwein singled for the Red Sox.
