A boating accident on Clearwater Lake in Piedmont, Missouri (Reynolds County) sent Adam Rowland of Fredericktown to St. Francis Hospital. The accident happened on August 16 about 5:00 p.m.

According to the Missouri State Water Patrol, Rowland had fallen off the tube he was riding on along the Logan Creek Arm of the lake and the operator of the boat, Joshua R. Holland of Fredericktown, brought the boat around to pick Rowland up. Holland had forgotten and left the boat in reverse while Rowland was trying to re-board the boat. The propeller caught the victim in the shoulder according to the report. His injury was listed as serious.

Other passengers in the boat were: Ronnie Holland, Laura Hinkle and Sheena S all of Fredericktown.
