The new towers in Madison County are two of about 55 new cell sites slated for the state of Missouri in 2009. From 2006 to 2008, AT&T’s total investment in Missouri exceeded $1.75 billion.
“We are committed to providing Missouri excellent communications services,” said Nancy Garvey, vice president and general manager Greater Midwest Region, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “We are keeping that commitment by adding new wireless coverage, ensuring high levels of reliability and offering exciting products to help our customers stay connected with their world, everywhere they live and work.”
Customers will now be able to use AT&T mobile devices in an expanded area, and will have access to the wireless network with the best global coverage, as well as the nation’s premier lineup of innovative wireless and wireline products and services.
Christina Mattingly, Madison County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director in Fredericktown praised local legislators for their efforts in Jefferson City, which encouraged investment in the wireless technology. "We are fortunate to have leaders like state Rep. Shelley Keeney, who set good public policy that encourages new technology and innovation throughout Missouri," said Mattingly. "She and her colleagues have paved the way for this investment, and as a result of their leadership the lives of everyday individuals and families will be enhanced and our businesses will stay competitive."
State Rep. Keeney said: “Technology and communications have a tremendous impact on the economy, education and the way people go about their daily lives. I have worked to help bring new technology to our community, and it’s good to see this important step taking place.”
