The church began as members gathered at the spring on the property of Richard Marshall and grew to become a thriving congregation. The celebration was so well attended by so many people, chairs had to be brought out to supplement the seating.
Members were encouraged to wear period clothing to add to the celebration.
A Powerpoint presentation and photographic display brought back memories for many of the guests. Some were moved to tears while sharing their memories.
Fredericktown Mayor Danny Kemp signed a proclamation congratulating the church on reaching the milestone just a couple of weeks before.
Local members of the church worked on the celebration for over a year gathering historical information, preparing and sending out invitations and arranging for music. Former member Danielle Yilmaz sang “How Great Thou Art” in a beautiful operatic voice for the audience among some of the musical events.
The event concluded with a large luncheon for all. Former members of the church, Regional Minister Danny Stewart, Gateway Area Minister Dr. Penny Ross-Corona and former interim Minister Michael Dixon and wife Sandy were on hand to give thanks and offer congratulations and praise form hundreds of area churches in Missouri. National President of the Church, Sharon Watkins also sent along her congratulations.
