The Farmington Knights did not qualify as a team in the Class 3, District 1 Cross Country Meet, but they still have a chance at placing as a team in next week’s State meet in Jefferson City. Qualifiers for the state meet are the first and second place teams as well as the first 15 runners from the rest of the field.

Farmington came in third as a team with 69 points, but they had five runners who qualified in the Top 15 finishers, which is what a team must have to be able to place at state.

Festus placed first as a team with 35 points. Cape Notre Dame came in second at 63 points. Since Festus’ and Cape’s runners go as a team, the other runners qualifying for State had to finish in 26th place or less.

Cole Allison of Festus won the boys meet with a time of 15:55. 89, a full 28 seconds ahead of Ryan Johnson of Cape-Notre Dame in second.

Farmington’s Colton Wooldridge placed fourth with a time of 16:24.46 for the Knights best time. Joining him for Farmington were Jake Burch - 11th, Derrick Scales - 16th, Anthony White - 19th, and Alex Rhodes - 24th.

North County had two boys place for state with Garrett Degonia coming in 10th and Corey Pratte finishing 21st.

Potosi also had two qualifiers. Jacob Mathis finished in sixth place and Justin Doss took 12th. Ste. Genevieve’s Ryan Oberlie came in 23rd and will be the Dragons lone runner at state on the boys side.

The Ste. Genevieve Hunters won the girls race with a team total of 39 points. Festus placed second with 65 points.

Potosi’s Sarah Jacobsen won the meet with a time of 19:02.02. Teammate Sarah White came in second at 19:08.21, and Festus’ Tiffany Smith came in third at 20.01.01. Potosi did not have a girls team in the meet with only three runners.

Ste. Genevieve’s top runner in the race was Jennifer Bauman with an 8th place finish at 20:44.57. Not far behind were Ashley Brewster - 10th, and Hannah Jaegers - 11th. Lydia Huelskamp placed 14th, Emily Braun came in 16th and Jessica Filer finished 16th to finalize the team score. Emily Callahan came in 43rd.

Team scores are figured by adding up the places the first five runners finished, after subtracting the runners who ran without a team in the meet (ex. Potosi).

After the Ste. Genevieve and Festus runners were deleted, it made the cut-off at 25 for the other 15 qualifiers. Jacobsen and White with their top two finishes definitely qualified.

Farmington had four runners qualify with Jacqueline Wolf, Alexis Kiefer, Katherine Sitzes and Taylin Persons finishing respectively in 12th, 15th, 18th and 20th places.

North County’s Taylor Weible came in 25th to qualify for state by six seconds.
