"I Can’t Get My Publisher To Launch"
By Robert Vanderbrugen
For those of you who have little or no computer knowledge, Publisher is a software program, usually made by Microsoft, that can help create some very entertaining and eye catching newsletters.

For those who have a working knowledge of software, you know how I feel.

Monday started out going downhill and seems to be continuing.

The younger Newfie decided he no longer has to come when I call him, so Sunday night, I spent the night (in between little slices of sleep) trying to get him in the house so we can all sleep soundly at home. He chose to remain in the cool night air and sleep. Now I could have gotten dressed and launched myself out in the back, got nice and chilly, explained the cold hard facts of life to him (You know, give him the “boot”) and  spend the rest of the night trying to warm-up while attempting to get back to sleep, but I chose not to. The cool air would have just woken me up anyway and Monday morning was just a sunrise away. (Where does a 200 pound Newfie sleep? Anywhere he wants). Mr. Newfie and I will be having a heart to “collar” later this week about the alpha male thing.

As morning arrived (and my slits for eyelids opened) I stepped into our newly remodeled shower for the first time. (Took things a while to dry and set).

I placed my hand on the wall while I was standing on one leg  the other one, and CRACK; the grout broke in the corner. (Still didn’t kick the dog though).

When I arrived at work, I opened the e-mails for the day, one of the stories came in Publisher format. The program launched, but no file was found. I sent an e-mail to the sender and moved on. Later, I tried to open another e-mail containing a Publisher file; it wouldn’t launch at all. The software mystery deepens. (Was it my software, or the senders error?)

You might say I was having a Dog Day Afternoon in the morning on Monday, like Al Pacino in the movie. The day should have started a bit better, but the little problems in life continued. Maybe I’ll follow the wisdom of the dog and sleep on the deck tonight. There won’t be any Publisher programs to deal with, I’ll get a good nights sleep; and if it rains, I won’t have worry about a shower. (Or cracks in my normal routine).
