The Blackcats Football team plays its Homecoming Game this Friday night, as the Cats host Charleston.
Saturday, in Perryville, it was the Pirates Homecoming, but the Cats were unwelcome guests, topping the Pirates, 21-0.
After a scoreless first period, the Cats took a Perryville fumble and started a drive on their own 35. 59 yards later, It was third and goal from the six, when FHS Quarterback A.P. Lewandowski hit Ryan Gifford for a scoring pass. The PAT was no good, and it was 6-0 with 37 seconds left in the half.
In the third quarter, a 47-yard run by Jacob Farmer set up the second Lewandowski to Gifford connection for a 16-yard touchdown. Codee Stamp caught the 2-point conversion pass to make it 14-0 with 2:29 to play in the period.
The game’s last score came on a 75-yard run by Farmer with 7:03 to play in the game. Gifford booted the PAT to make it 21-0.
Farmer led with 21 carries for 198 yards. Lewandowski completed eight passes for 83 yards and two scores. On defense, Justin Menteeer led with two solo tackles and ten assists. Wacey Walters and Randy Heady each had two quarterback sacks. Tanner Ward recovered two fumbles.
