The Madison Medical Center (MMC) Board of Trustees met at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, for their regular monthly meeting. The following board members were present: Bob Schwent, Kent Marler, Larry Hunt, Ruth Ann Skaggs. Denny Ward was absent.

MMC staff present: Lisa Twidwell, Administrator/CEO; Jennifer Penuel, COO/Human Resources Director; Cindy Dulaney, Acute Care DON; Kristen Starkey, Nursing Home DON; Carol Hyatt, Physician Office Manager; Maureen Medley, Administrative Assistant. Also present were Dr. Eric Davis and Dennis Bradford, County Commissioner.

It was announced that Allan Sucharski has been hired to fill the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at MMC. Lisa Twidwell, who served as the CFO for approximately ten years, became CEO on June 1, 2009, and has been functioning in both positions until her replacement could be found.

Lisa Twidwell, Administrator, and Bob Schwent, Board Chairman, will attend the Missouri Hospital Association (MHA) meeting with Missouri Representative Shelley Keeney on Thursday, October 15,2009.

The annual MHA convention is being held on November 4,5, and 6, 2009 at Tan-Tar-A. Lisa Twidwell, Administrator, and Bob Schwent, Board Chairman will attend to represent Madison Medical Center.

The MMC Board of Trustees/Medical Staff/Department Head Christmas Party will be held Friday, December 4, at Vance’s Vineyard. The Nursing Home residents’ Christmas party will be on December 13 at 2:00 p.m., and the MMC Ladies Auxiliary Christmas Luncheon will take place on Tuesday, December 15th at 11:30 a.m..

There were 524 patients seen in the Emergency Room (E.R) during September. There were 35 surgery cases, and three air transports from the hospital.

During the month of September, there were two admissions to the nursing home, eight discharges and four deaths.

There were 264 Home Health visits and 2, 764 in-home service units provided during September 2009.

There were 1,536 Rural Health Clinic visits and 186 Outpatient Clinic visits during September 2009.

Six employees have received referral bonuses since the program began in June of this year. Eighty-three employees out of a possible one-hundred sixty-two employees will receive a $50 Perfect Attendance Bonus for the third quarter of 2009.

The Board of Trustees approved consulting staff privileges in Gastroenterology for Tara Talwar, M.D. and Charmaine E. S, M.D.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. in the Dr. Slaughter Memorial Building.
