Brenda Marie Grubb, 61, of Marquand, Missouri, (formerly of Thebes, IL), died October 13, 2009 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 29, 1948 in Cairo, Illinois to Robert Winston and Blanche (Bledsoe) Wehmeyer.
She married Donnie Grubb on September 11, 1972. He survives her.
Mrs. Grubb was a member of the Alexander Free Will Baptist Church. She was a graduate of the Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee; earning a B.A. in History. While a student there she did missionary work in Hawaii. She later enrolled in Southeast Missouri State University where she earned a BS in English. She began her teaching career in 1972, starting at Egyptian High School in Tamms, then for a brief period time she was a nurses aid trainer at Southeast Hospital. Upon her return to teaching, she taught at Zalma, Leopold, then for the last 20 years at Marquand. She won numerous teaching and education awards at Marquand and taught GED classes at Fredericktown. She returned to SEMO to earn her degree in Spanish, and was a member of the Missouri State teachers Association.
She is survived by her husband, Donnie of Marquand; one son, Shawn Grubb of Jackson, Missouri; one daughter, Ladonna Marie Grubb of Memphis, Tennessee; and six grandchildren
Her parents, Winston and Blanche Wehmeyer of Thebes; one brother, Bill Wehmeyer of Thebes;
nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donnie Wayne Grubb Jr on April 3, 1995, one brother, Buddy Wehmeyer in 1975 and one sister, Becky Wehmeyer in 1999.
Funeral services were held October 16, 2009 at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau with the Reverend Earnest Brown officiating. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.
